Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at rechargingfamiliesrespite@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We are approved by the state to provide services through the Child Mental Health Wraparound (CMHW) services. Our providers are experienced at serving youth with severe emotional disturbances. Our goal is to provide respite care to the caregivers of participants actively enrolled in CMHW. Our agency holds a Child Care Home 1 License.

Respite care, or respite services, is a special name for a short-term break for caregivers. Families need a break from time to time to look after their own needs. It is an opportunity for families to find the best fit when needing a short-term break.

Providers at RFRR will work with participants on improving their daily living skills, transportation to and from community activities during respite, assistance with grooming/personal hygiene, meal preparation, serving and cleanup, administration of medications, and supervision. Participants will also be able to participate in age-appropriate activities with their peers where they will have an opportunity to practice their skills, they may be learning from participating in other services.

No. Respite services is not allowed to be used to provide a substitute for regular childcare to allow the parent/caregiver to hold a job, engage in job-related or job search activities, or attend school. No respite care is permitted while the participant is attending school.

We are located in a quiet residential neighborhood located within walking distance to multiple stores and restaurants. Our facility is a ranch style home. The main living room area is set up like a residence with sofas and a tv. We have an eat in dining area where all meals will take place. There are two-bedroom rooms that are fully furnished to allow participants to engage in crafts, games, and exercises identified on their plan of care. We have a full bathroom and kitchen for our participants along with a privacy fence in the backyard.

Unfortunately, we are unable to allow tours due to the HIPAA and COVID Protocols for other participants. If a participant is dropped off at the location by a caregiver, they will be greeted by staff at the entryway but are unable to enter the facility for the same reasons stated above.

Anyone enrolled and participating in CMHW Wraparound can participate.

Male or female participants can be accepted at RFRR. We have trained staff of both genders available to meet the needs of our participants.

We can provide relief for participants between the ages of 8 and 17.

Yes. We offer transportation to participants that reside within 30 miles of our location and/or that will be participating in a full day of activities with us. A full day includes 7 or more hours (including transportation time). Other participants can be dropped off and/or picked up at our location.

Yes, we offer meals and snacks to participants.

Our days and hours vary based on need. Most respite breaks are planned; however, on rare occasions, something unexpected may occur. We have options that fit both situations.

Yes. Please inquire if interested.

Enrollment begins through your Wrap Facilitator, who may recommend facility-based respite during a Child and Family Team Meeting (CFTM) as a way to support your family’s needs. During the CFTM, the team discusses options, sets priorities, and develops strategies to meet those needs, including the who, what, when, and how of respite care.

If your family is interested in our services, Recharging Families Respite Retreat (RFRR) must be included in a team meeting before services can begin. This ensures that:

  • We’re part of the planning process,
  • Your family fully understands how the program works, and
  • The Plan of Care is personalized to your family’s unique needs and schedule (daily, weekly, or monthly).

We look forward to collaborating with your team to create a supportive and restorative experience for your child and family.
